The Music Program at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) is pleased to present the CSUB Jazz Collective under the direction of music professor, Jim Scully. The Jazz Collective is a 20-person group of student musicians who perform in medium to large jazz ensembles. The group will present varied and diverse arrangements of music by alto saxophone legend, Charlie Parker, LA-based composer Tom Kubis, Grammy-winning super group Snarky Puppy, and many others.  Many student soloists will be featured, including Charlie Vasquez (trumpet); Tony Rinaldi (piano); Raven Simon (trumpet); Amanda McCaslin (guitar); Omar Murillo, (trombone) and others.
The concert takes place on Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m. in the Doré Theatre on the CSUB campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors (60+) and $5 for any student with a student ID.  Tickets can be purchased at the door on event night.
Director, Jim Scully, is excited to present the Jazz Collective, “These students have worked hard to present some wonderful music that allows for them to express themselves musically, and grapple with the language of jazz through improvisation. This group of students is ready to take the next step, and I’m happy to direct them all!”
