CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame 2017 Nominations Now Being Accepted

The California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) Alumni Association is currently accepting nominations for the 2017 CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame. The CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions in their chosen field of endeavor and/or in their community, and whose accomplishments and careers have brought honor and distinction to the University.

A committee comprised of CSUB Alumni Association board members, CSUB faculty from each academic school, and a President’s designee, selects inductees. The 2016 Hall of Fame inductees include:

  • Greg Colson (’78), an accomplished artist with public collections all over the world including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
  • Jeff Colson (’79), A commended artist, Jeff Colson has had the honor of showing his work in many acclaimed institutions such as The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; and many others.
  • Tom Hardt (’73), Tom Hardt has made a huge impact in the community by providing the funding and resources to make Hardt Field a reality on the CSUB campus. Mr. Hardt founded the Hardt Family Foundation which funds local, social, religious, art and education organizations throughout Kern County.
  • Mike Maggard (’78), Kern County Supervisor 3rd District, Mike Maggard is a Certified Public Accountant and founder and owner of Maggard and Company, CPA’s in Bakersfield, California.
  • Shanna Treanor (’94), Dr. Treanor is a pediatrician specializing in Pediatric Dermatology at Bakersfield Dermatology in Bakersfield, California.

Criteria for selecting a nominee includes: holding an earned or honorary degree from CSUB; must have received their degree five years or more prior to selection; must present a trajectory of professional accomplishments and successes; must show a history of contributions to the community and previous recognitions with awards, civic and community involvement, awareness and concern; maintain a positive impact on chosen endeavors; display interest in support of higher education; and demonstrate involvement with the University.

“The Alumni Hall of Fame is a chance to acknowledge exceptional alumni who have graduated from CSUB. We encourage our campus and community partners to nominate alumni, both locally and beyond, whose accomplishments and contributions showcase these inspiring individuals,” said CSUB Director of Alumni Engagement, Sarah Hendrick.

The CSUB Alumni Association invites University alumni and friends to submit nominations both locally and from across the country. To nominate distinguished CSUB alumni for the CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame, please visit The deadline for nominations is October 7, 2016. Nominees will be named in November and honored during a black tie gala on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

The mission of the CSUB Alumni Association is to promote the University’s mission of educational excellence by engaging and connecting alumni, students, campus partners and the community through membership, mentorship, and scholarship opportunities.
