Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and CSUB to Hold 4th Annual Earth Day Networking and Lunch Event

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) will host the 4th annual Earth Day Networking and Lunch on Friday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s event will be held at the Solario de Fortaleza in the Student Recreation Center on the CSUB campus. The theme is “Celebrating Earth Day, Everyday at Work and Home.”

“Every year, Earth Day serves to remind us that our planet is precious and it is our responsibility to be good stewards, both of our local environment and the ecosystem as a whole,” said Jay Tamsi, President/CEO of the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

During the luncheon, experts from CSUB, Kern Green, Cal Water, and Keep Bakersfield Beautiful will inform attendees of the environmental work being done in Kern County. They will provide useful tips on water and energy conservation, as well as creative recycling techniques and proper disposal of hazardous waste. Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to take the right steps towards building a safe, clean and green community.

This is the 46th year of a movement started in 1970 to educate the public and increase awareness of environmental issues facing the planet. Today, the movement continues to inspire, challenge, ignite passions and ideas, and motivate people into action.

“Our valley provides us with food, energy and jobs. We at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are committed to making it the healthiest and cleanest place it can be,” said Tamsi. “We invite our members and community to join us this Earth Day, whether you are taking your first steps toward environmental awareness or are ready to do even more. Now is the time to keep moving forward with groundbreaking ideas and making our world a more inviting place to live.”
