Celebrate CSUB 2016

California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) will be hosting their 10th annual open campus event with Celebrate CSUB on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Runner Park. The Bakersfield community is invited to attend; parking and admission will be free.

Families are especially encouraged to attend, as there will be art projects and games for children, and a multitude of activities for prospective students and their parents. Educational components include science demonstrations, student research presentations, and campus tours. Several fun competitions will take place including the CSUB Feed the Receptacles Art Contest, Are You Smarter than a CSUB Student and freshman orientation day for incoming CSUB students for Fall 2016. In addition, there will be many booths from CSUB’s programs and activities, including Nursing, Student Rights and Responsibilities, CSUB Singers, Roadrunner Science Day (presented by PG&E), Alumni Engagement, The Runner and more.

This year’s event will also be in conjunction with the Bakersfield’s Got Talent competition, which will present an excellent opportunity for those in the community to showcase their talents in front of a live audience for a chance to win awesome prizes, including $1,000. 

Other family friendly events include:

  • 5K Fun Run and Pancake Breakfast (8 a.m. start time; entry fee $20)
  • Spring carnival and food booths by student leadership groups.
  • Brain Magic
  • Chemistry Circus
  • Colorful Rowdy Necklaces with the Children’s Art Center
  • Tai Chi Demonstrations
