Action-Packed Homecoming Week Coming Up at CSUB

Homecoming is a time to celebrate your alma mater, catch a great game or reconnect with a favorite faculty or staff member. For California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), Homecoming Week is just around the corner, taking place February 20 through 27. Students, faculty and alumni are invited to participate in the fun and excitement the week will bring.

The celebration will begin on Saturday, February 20, with the women’s basketball game against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at 1 p.m. in the Icardo Center. The festivities will continue with the Alumni Hall of Fame Dinner, to be held at 5 p.m. at the Bakersfield Country Club. For baseball fans, CSUB will take on CSU Northridge, 6 p.m. at Hardt Field.

Throughout the week, various activities will be taking place, such as BBQ’s, a campus clean-up activity, selecting a Homecoming Court and lots of spirit-focused festivities. Friday, February 26, will continue the momentum by celebrating outstanding recent alumni from each of CSUB’s four Academic Schools; hearing about their journey from CSUB to their respective career fields with the Rising Runner Ceremony at noon in the new Student Housing, Multipurpose Room. Then, grab your favorite cap and sport the CSUB colors, as you head out to the baseball game to follow at 6 p.m. at Hardt Field against St. John’s University.

Saturday, February 27, will conclude Homecoming Week with a Runner baseball game against St. John’s at noon at Hardt Field and a Homecoming pre-game BBQ from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn between Science III and Health Center, complete with activities and free food and drinks.
