CSUB Hosts 24th Annual Kern County Regional Science Bowl

This Saturday, February 13, 150 outstanding high school students will be welcomed to California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) to compete in the 24th annual Kern County Regional Science Bowl. The competition will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in various lecture rooms within Dorothy Donahoe Hall on CSUB’s campus, located at 9001 Stockdale Highway.

Thirty-two, five-member teams from 14 high schools from Kern County and one high school from Santa Barbara County will take part in this year’s Regional Science Bowl. They will compete in a question-answer quiz format covering topics in biology, chemistry, physics, math, computer science, Earth science, and astronomy. The Kern County Regional Science Bowl is sponsored by Lengthwise Brewery, Mellinium Pension Services, California Resource Corporation, and AERA Energy.

The first-round competition will begin at 8:15 a.m.  There will be a break for lunch before the program resumes again at 1:15 p.m.  The final three rounds of the Science Bowl will take place in Dorothy Donahoe Hall, Room GJ-102 at 3:15 p.m.  The winning team will advance to the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Marked media vehicles may park in any lot on the CSUB campus with a parking permit. The University recommends that the general public park in Lots C, D, F or G.
