CSUB announces new VP of Business and Administrative Services

Today California State University, Bakersfield announced the appointment of Thomas Davis as Vice President for Business and Administrative Services, succeeding Mike Neal, who retired after 18 years of service to his alma mater.

Davis brings more than 19 years of senior-level higher education management experience, having served as vice president and chief financial officer at two private universities (Averett University in Virginia and Simpson University in Redding, CA), and as associate vice president and chief accounting officer at two public research universities (Texas Tech University and Florida International University).

A certified public accountant, Davis holds an associate’s degree in business from Santa Rosa Junior College, a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master of science degree in taxation from Golden Gate University. As VP of BAS, Davis will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the following university departments and/or functional areas: Accounting; University Budget Office; Facilities Management (physical plant planning, design, construction and operation, custodial, property receiving and control, mail services); Human Resources (including collective bargaining representation, Payroll, and Safety and Risk Management); Procurement and Support Services (procurement and contracting, reprographics services); and University Police Services (police and protective services, parking control), leading a diverse workforce of about 125 employees.
