Fab Lab Summer Camps

The Fab Lab at CSUB is part of the worldwide network of Fab Labs, and the only one within a 100 mile radius of Bakersfield! The Fab Lab gives access to state-of-the-art technology like 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, and more! Touted as a place where you can build (almost) anything, the Fab Lab is a creative space for you to explore your imagination to its fullest!

Introduction to Digital Fabrication Camp

Ages 10 and up                 Cost $145

Dates:       June 1 – 4          8am – 12pm

                June 22 – 25       1:00 – 5:00 pm

                July 13 – 16         8am – 12pm

                July 27 – 30         1:00 – 5:00 pm

Learn about digital fabrication and rapid prototyping! Participants will earn lab safety and how to use the vinyl cutters, laser cutters, 3D printers, and the CNC routers to design and make almost anything!

3D Modeling Camp

Ages 10 and up                 Cost $135

Dates:       June 1 – 4            1:00 – 5:00 pm

                July 27 – 30          8am – 12pm

Learn to design your own 3D model using Tinkercad software and then print on the 3D printer. Skills learned can be used to design and build entirely custom objects.

Build Your Own Robot Camp

Ages 12 and up                 Cost $250

Dates:       June 8 – 11          8am – 12pm

                July 6 – 9             1:00 – 5:00 pm

Learn about breadboarding (construction base for prototyping electronics), Arduino programming, and soldering by building your own robot.

Airplane Mechanics Camp

Ages 12 and up                 Cost $175

Dates:       June 8 – 11          1:00 – 5:00 pm

                July 6 – 9              8am – 12pm

Learn what it is like to diagnose, adjust, or repair engines and assemblies in airplane mechanics camp. Campers will use laser cutters and soldering irons to build and test their airplane prototypes.

Make Your Own Gameboard Camp

Ages 10 and up                 Cost $150

                July 20 – 23         1:00 – 5:00 pm

Learn how to make and personalize your own checkers game board with the laser cutter and 3D printers.

Make Your Own Light-up Mask Camp

Ages 10 and up                 Cost $175

Dates:       June 15 – 18       1:00 – 5:00 pm

                July 20 – 23         8am – 12pm

Learn about circuits, soldering, and laser cutting while making your own personalized light-up mask.

Laser Engraving Camp

Ages 10 and up                 Cost $135

Dates:       June 22 – 25       8am – 12pm

                July 13 – 16         1:00 – 5:00 pm

Learn how to use the laser cutter to engrave fun projects like picture frames, laser art, mailbox or jewelry box, bird house, and more!
