Degree Content Verification
This subject matter option is sometimes called the coursework lite option.
It is only available for those seeking a multiple subject or education specialist (special education) credential.
It is an evaluation of coursework in 9 different content areas.
To meet this option, you must have coursework in writing, literature, math, history, human development, science, physical education, social studies, and the arts.
The courses must be nonremedial and passed with a grade of C- or better. Pass or credit in a course is also acceptable.
Please review the list of pre-approved courses to see if any previous courses you may have taken are listed. If the course is on the list, then you will be able to use that course to meet that content area.
If you feel that you have a course that meets the content area, but it is not on the pre-approved list, then you can still list it in the appropriate content area, but you will need to include a course description so that it can be reviewed to make sure it meets the content area.
If you know that you dont have a course to meet one of the content areas, it is alright. You will not have met subject matter, but you can submit to verify that your other courses meet the content areas. You will then take courses to meet the missing content areas and resubmit. You must meet all content areas to be deemed to have met subject matter.
To submit your degree content verification form, click the blue button that says Degree Content Verification Form. You must have an active status with CSUB to use Kuali. You will need to enter your CSUB netid and password to access the Kuali platform.
Your name, CSUB ID, and CSUB Email will auto-populate on the form. Enter the campus you are attending, the credential program you are applying to, the term applying for, and term year.
In the instructions section, you will see the information that we have reviewed and what type of courses might count for each of the content areas. The approved list of courses is also available for you to reference.
In the content areas, list up to three courses that youve taken, and feel would meet that content area. Do not enter a course if you do not have a grade for the course. In progress courses are not accepted, a course must have a grade to be evaluated.
Select whether all your courses are on the approved course list or not. If yes, attach your unofficial transcripts then click the blue submit button at the top of the form. If no, attach your unofficial transcripts and catalog descriptions for any courses not on the approved course list.
You can find catalog descriptions by going to the institution you took the course from and looking at the catalog for the course description. You can print, screenshot, or copy paste each description into a word document then attach that document on your verification form. You can also try cso.collegesource.com and enter your institution to check for catalog descriptions.
Once you have attached all the necessary documentation, click the blue submit button at the top of the form to submit your verification request.
After your form has been processed you will receive an email with your evaluation results.
