CSUB Counseling Center Groups and Workshops - Fall 2023
What is the difference between Workshops and Groups?
Workshops are structured, time-limited, skill building workshops with no expectation for students to share anything about themselves. Workshops are led by a CSUB Counselor. Workshops may use a workbook provided to the student by the CSUB Counseling Center. Due to the structured nature of the workshops, students who are unsure if they are ready to commit to a group or anxious about talking in front of others, find the workshops helpful in building knowledge and skills.
Groups tend to have an expectation that the group members share and talk with each other with an opportunity to connect and build community. Groups are facilitated by a CSUB Counselor with guidance in the processing of thoughts and feelings related to experiences surrounding specific concerns.
