AV Library

Despite the Novel Coronavirus, and the subsequent physical closing of the library, students still have access to a vast number of specialized services that put the entire CSU library system at their fingertips including:

Research Assistance – Students have their own Antelope Valley Librarian, Kristine Holloway. They may contact me by phone, 661 952-5072 or email, Students may ask research questions through telephone or email, and they may make Zoom appointments! I have a Master’s Degree in Education and in Library Science and am always happy to help you. Additionally, students may access 24/7 research help from our library homepage via LibChat. They may also contact their Subject Specialist Librarians.

Articles and Databases - Many articles can be retrieved through OneSearch or through our A to Z database list. This service allows students to access a vast array of journal articles easily and conveniently from any computer with Internet access. Articles not available electronically can be obtained through Resource Sharing

Books and Videos – Due to the pandemic, books can be requested by students with the option of having books sent to their home. Whether in Resource Sharing or in the Book Record, this request can be made. It will take a longer amount of time to get the book, potentially two to three weeks. However the books will be sent to your home with a return postage label so that postage is free to you. We also have a large collection of E-books available through OneSearch from the Library Home Page.

Course Reserves – Due to the pandemic, hard copy course reserves that are owned by the library will be available to check out through main campus. This can be done by checking them out as you would do a book as mentioned above. Please contact your librarian if you would like help with this. Books that are owned by instructors may have one to two chapters requested. These will be scanned and sent to you via email. These should be requested via Resource Sharing.  Resource Sharing - Students may obtain books and articles from other libraries through Resource Sharing. Due the pandemic, there may be a longer wait time. However, you will be emailed a link to articles, and books will be sent in a package with a return postage label.

Local Area Libraries- Be aware that many local libraries such as the Lancaster Branch of the county library system and other county and city libraries are offering access to ebooks through Overdrive. Residents are also able to get their cards online. So if you are looking for a book, checking out your online public library may be a smart thing to do and get you the book you need more quickly than waiting for a print version. Please visit their respective pages for information on how to do this.
