Admission Requirements for International Students

If you are currently seeking education in the U.S., please review the following requirements to decide if you are qualified.

CSUB is authorized to issue Form I-20 and Form DS-2019 for qualified applicants to obtain their F-1 (student visas) and J-1 (exchange student/scholar visas) from the US embassy or consulate in their countries of origin.

GPA Requirements

  • Undergraduates: 3.0
  • Transfer Students: 2.4 (60 semester units or 90 quarter units)
  • Graduate Students: 2.5
  • Graduate MBA Students: 2.75

Please note: all college/university transcripts from foreign institutions MUST be submitted for credential evaluation.

Bank Statement

A bank statement from the person sponsoring your education showing the student has $29,000 available for one year of study is required. Bank statements can be provided by the applicant, the applicant's parents, or another sponsor.

Second Bachelor’s requirement

Students applying for a second bachelor’s degree are required to meet CSUB’s graduate student admission requirements.

Green Card Policy

Students are eligible for resident tuition one year after a Green Card was issued.

Transcript evaluation

All college/university transcripts from foreign institutions must be submitted for detailed, course-by-course credential evaluation along with degree posted. CSU Bakersfield recommends the following evaluation services:
