Academic Advising

Current CSUB Students

Due to the current restrictions and state of emergency with COVID-19, advising for current CSUB students has moved to alternate delivery services. There is no advising staff on campus. Staff advisors in the Department of Nursing will be telecommuting until further notice. 

Registration for continuing students for the subsequent semester will be restricted if there is an Advising Hold or other existing holds on students' accounts. Login to MyCSUB to view holds.

Group Advising Sessions

Group Advising Sessions were originally scheduled March 16th - April 9th. This has moved to Online Advising delivery for students that signed up prior to the changes to virtual instruction. Students that signed up have been notified through their campus e-mails with instructions on how to complete Online Group Advising. 

Individual Appointments

For students that did not sign up for Group Adivisng, you have two options to release your Advising Hold:

Option 1: E-Mail Appointment: To request for an email advising appointment, please email your advisor at along with your CSUB ID #. Further instructions will follow. 

Option 2: Zoom Appointment: To request for a Zoom appointment, please email your advisor at along with your CSUB ID#. Instructions and e-mail link to your Zoom appointment will follow. 

New Incoming Freshmen and Transfers for Fall 2020

Advising services for new incoming students will take place over the summer. Efforts will be made to reach out to students that are ready to be advised. If you have been admitted to the University, it is recommended that you complete necessary actions required upon admissions. For details, visit

Non-CSUB students

No advising availability--must attend an Information Session

Individualized appointments are reserved for current CSUB students only. 

We request that those not currently attending CSUB, review materials on the CSUB Nursing website and/or attend an information session to learn about requirements upon applying. Information Session details, dates, and RSVP instructions can be found in the Prospective Applicants section of this website.  

Attention: Students who are a Registered Nurse with an Associates Degree in Nursing and would like to pursue a BSN should view materials for the RN-BSN program
