About CAMP

CAMP is Committed To Students' Success!

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is a project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education. CAMP has been hosted at California State Univesity, Bakersfield (CSUB) since 2000 and is currently funded to serve 65 students from the Southern San Joaquin Valley.

CAMP is committed to serve, educate, and empower migrant and farmworking students and their families. The CAMP staff at CSUB possess professional experience in the field of education and are well versed on the academic and socio-economic barriers faced by students with a low-income, first-generation, migrant, and seasonal farmworking background.

The program is focused on addressing the concerns of students to increase retention and graduation rates of student participants. CAMP provides the following student support services: 

  • Tutoring

  • Cultural Enrichment Activities

  • Academic Advising and Personal Coaching

  • Mid-Semester Evaluations/Early Interventions 

  • One-unit; Letter-graded class (Fall and Spring)

  • Three-Week Summer Bridge Program (3rd week of July)
