Get to know new CSUB President Lynnette Zelezny and learn about the interest and volunteer service groups open to retirees and those 60 and older at the 60+ Club’s Possibilities Day Sept. 12.

Possibilities Day is an annual event that showcases all the possibilities each new and returning club member can expect for the upcoming school year. The day kicks off with an introduction from club President Cheryl Tikanen.

Leaders of the various 60+ Club interest and volunteer service groups will share what each has to offer. Attendees will then be able to visit tables staffed by those leaders, ask questions and sign up.

“The 60+ Club is one of CSUB’s longest-standing volunteer organizations, and we are grateful for the countless volunteer hours they dedicate each year,” said CSUB Director of Alumni Engagement Sarah Hendrick. “Possibilities Day is a great way for community members to learn more about the club, connect with like-minded individuals, and give back to the community and university.”

The club is managed by the CSUB Office of Alumni Engagement, but you don’t have to be an alumna/us to join. Anyone older than 60 or retired can join. A single membership costs $40; couples can join for $80.

The 60+ Club offers such activities as reading groups, a lunch/dinner club, coffees with CSUB professors and even opportunities to prune the university’s rose bushes. Members can attend monthly meetings at CSUB every second Thursday of the month, participate in and volunteer at CSUB events, and get access to the Walter Stiern Library on campus.
