What is 15 to finish all about?

15 to Finish is a campaign to encourage CSUB students to graduate on time by completing at least 15 units per semester, or 30 a year. You can ultimately avoid the cost of an extra year, which could cost you between $4,000 and $8,000 dollars!

According to Complete College America's report, The 4-year Myth, each additional year of college costs about $22,826 for tuition, room, board, and fees plus an additional $45,327 in lost wages bringing the total to $68,153. You will have saved almost $70,000!!!

Why is 15 to finish important?

By completing 15 units per semester, you will be on track to complete 30 units per year. Each class level (i.e. sophomore, junior, senior) is determined by 30 units. So, by earning 30 units per year, you will be able to graduate on time, saving you both money and time!

Class level breakdown:

Freshman: 0-29.99 units

Sophomore: 30-59.99 units

Junior: 60-89.99 units

Senior: 90+ units

To graduate: 120 units

By completing 15 units per semester you are also more likely to:

  • Graduate on time and get out into the workforce sooner.
  • Feel motivated to succeed.
  • Avoid the cost of an extra year, which could cost you between $4,000 and $8,000 dollars!

How can I learn more about 15 to finish?

Sign your "Commit to Complete" and stay tuned for more details. You are encouraged to talk to your academic advisor about staying on track to graduate in 4 years.

What if I can't complete 15 units?

Don't worry if you can't complete 15 units per semester, or 30 units per year - each student has his or her own path and that is OK. As an institution, we want all CSUB students to graduate successfully. In order to maintain that goal, we want to inform you of the ways in which you can; in this case, by graduating in 4 years. By joining the 15 to finish initiative, you are one step closer to achieving your future goals by committing to complete!

As always, please consult with your academic advisor about alternative ways in which a 4-year graduation can still be achieved. For example, instead of completing 15 units per semester, you can enroll in 12 units per semester and 6 units during the summer.
