BIOL 260.  Microbiology This course covers a broad spectrum of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, helminths, and fungi from the applied and pathogenic perspective.  It is designed primarily for allied health and nursing professions.  We study the basics of microorganisms, how they are identified in a medical setting and then learn about the diseases they cause.  During the lab you will have an opportunity to work with some of the organisms and see what they look like and how they are identified.  Course requirements include learning to keep a notebook and solving unknowns.    This course serves as a pre-requisite for Medical Microbiology.  If you just want one medically oriented Micro class this would be a good class to take.  It is an interesting and fun class.  For more specific information see the catalog or course syllabus.
