Overhand Throw (passing)

  1. Grip (fingers spread, pads of fingers)  Does ball fall out of hand when held down at side of body?
  2. Back swing or windup, or preparation: side to the target or rotation; ball at ear height; elbow pointing forward
  3. Follow through: arm motion continues toward target after release

( + = proper grip; - = work needed; . = observation, but no assessment yet)

The above chart shows the symbols used to indicate the evaluation of two students for only the grip in throwing the football.   Make a chart for each of the football related skills.  Use headings that correspond to the coaching points or in other words, the points of emphasis.  I haven’t found an easy way to type the charts.  I use the method of typing and then drawing lines with a pencil or using a grade book.
