Catalog Description: Introduction to plays and other literature
suitable to be performed both by and for children, history and methods
of interpretation, analysis and evaluation of material, and production
practice.
Class Objective:
- To introduce students to a variety of plays to be performed
by and for children
- To develop critical thinking skills to better analyze what
is appropriate dramatic literature for children
- To aquire a proficiency in analyzing language, dramatic
action and themes of various texts
- To develop an appreciation and knowledge of the basic
elements of dramatic writing, and the performance and
interpretation of drama
- To enhance understanding of the creative process in the
theater arts
- To explore possible applications of children's dramatic
literature in the K-12 classroom
Student's Responsibilities
- To be prepared
- To bring all pertinent materials to class such as texts, props,
homework, etc.
- To come with a healthy, positive attitude that supports fellow
students and the learning enviroment
- To participate fully with an open mind and a sense of humor
