Creative Dramatics (Theater 305)
Required Text: Creative Drama in the Classroom and
beyond by Nellie McCaslin, eigth ed.
Required Materials: In this class you will be making a
puppet and a mask. You will need to purchase materials for these
class projects.
Catalog Description: Introduction to the use of drama and
creative play in the classroom and other social situations,
including study of materials and methods. Emphasis on development
of ideas rather than performance. Combination of lecture,
discussion, and projects.
Class Objective:
- To understand the basic principles of creative dramatics
- To develop skills in facilitating dramatic activities
- To explore the range of materials, methods, and applications
of creative dramatics
- To learn how to encourage, create, and teach through play
Student's Responsibilities
- To be prepared
- To wear comfortable, flexible clothing that you don't mind getting
dirty
- To bring all pertinent materials to class such as texts, props,
homework, etc.
- To come with a healthy, positive attitude that supports fellow
students and the learning enviroment
- To participate fully with an open mind and a sense of humor
- To be responsible for one's own physical needs (allergies, injuries,
etc.), to adjust exercises as needed and to inform the instructor of the
specifics of these needs.

mask paper
