| Mohsen Attaran is
the
2004-05
Millie
Ablin Outstanding Professor of Management
at California State
University, Bakersfield. He obtained his Ph.D. in Systems
science with specialization in Operations Management and
Business Forecasting from Portland State University. He is the
author/co-author of three books, over eighty papers, and ten commercial software packages. His research has been widely
published in the major professional journals in his field such
as the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of
Systems Management, Business Horizons, Information
& Management, Quarterly Journal of Business and
Economics, Industrial Management, Quarterly
Review of Economics and Business, and Applied Economics. He has taught in the Europe, and the Middle East, and was a three-time
recipient of the Meritorious Performance and
Professional Promise Award for outstanding performance in
teaching, research and community services. In 2006 he was
nominated for Wang Family Excellence Award
and in 1996 he was
honored as recipient of the El Paso Natural Gas Faculty
Achievement Award.
Professor Attaran
was president of the National Tax Sheltered Accounts
Association Educational Institute and served as an educational consultant
for the National Institute for Pension
Administrators for 20 years. He has been a consultant for several public and private organizations.
He has planned and conducted
numerous workshops and seminars for Caltrans Environmental
Branch Managers, Chevron Western Business Unit, Shell Oil Co.,
Texaco USA, Arco Oil and Gas, Computer Science Corp., Bechtel
Petroleum, Phillips Laboratory, Mission Energy, State Farm
Insurance Company, Kern County Waste Management Department,
Corps of Engineers, and Edwards Air Force Base.
Dr. Attaran is now involved in providing e-Business solutions
to local and national firms. He
used his research on web technology to establish a cutting
edge Web-Enabled portal for K-12 schools. Using the
platform, teachers can design unlimited pages and have the
capability of putting their scope and sequence, lesson plans,
and assignments online.
More than 1,000 schools (100,000 teachers) in
twenty states have adopted this portal in their institutions.
He also designed an e-Learning platform for delivery of
online courses for the National Tax Sheltered Accounts
Association and the National Institute for Pension
Administrators. More than 5000 students have used this
e-Learning platform to take online classes for several
certificate programs.
His research interests include
e-Business strategy, management of technology, operations
strategy, project management, continuous quality improvement,
and managing the total quality transformation.
