CSUB Guitar Day Guitar Orchestra

The highlight of this massive day of guitar will likely be the CSUB Guitar Day Orchestra. This gaggle of 50+ guitarists will rehearse twice during Guitar Day - working up three pieces for performance at the afternoon recital.

This ensemble will consist of CSUB faculty, students and any and all CSUB Guitar Day attendees.

This has the potential to be a real show stopper!

Any student guitarist is welcome to attend any portion of Guitar Day at no cost. However, to adequately plan the day, we need each attendee to REGISTER for the event with this easy to use online form:

Guitar Day Registration

After registration, students will receive periodic emails about auditions, selected repertoire, and other important information. Because of the electronic nature of our communications it is important the email address used to register for Guitar Day is an address that is checked regularly.

And be sure to fill out the
registration form as completely as possible.

There is a limit of 100 seats in our daytime venue. Students are urged to register early.

Registration closes on January 24, 2014 @ 5 PM

Attendees are not required to audition to attend Guitar Day or participate in the Guitar Day Orchestra.

However, there are two activities that require an audition - and the student must have the score.

1) If a student wants to be considered for one of two Master Class slots, or...

2) If a student wants to be considered for placement on the afternoon Guitar Day recital.

Both of those activities are by audition only and the student must have the printed music in class.

Note: Students selected to play in the afternoon recital are eligible to be selected for the 6 PM Command Performance in the Doré Theatre.

Audition Requirements

Soloists, duos, trios or quartets are invited to audition. Each performer or group should prepare 5 to 10 minutes of music for their audition.

There are no limitations to style or genre, but be sure to choose music that shows you at your best and be sure to have the printed music with you. We want to see you shine!

Contact Jim Scully (661.654.2511 or to schedule your audition.

**If an in-person audition is impossible to coordinate with Mr. Scully and/or Mr. Cope, auditions may be submitted via a YouTube link in an email to no later than January 17, 2014.

Be sure to put "
CSUB GUITAR DAY AUDITION" in the subject field and include your name and phone number in the email. The students with the strongest auditions will be invited to perform in the afternoon recital as a soloist, and students who perform best at the afternoon recital will be asked to perform at the evening command performance recital.

Deadline for the audition is January 17, 2014.

All daytime activities are FREE and open to the public - up to our 100 seat threshold.

Parking on the CSUB campus is FREE for the day - Parking Lots B and C are adjacent to the Music Building. Visitors should enter campus by traveling WEST on Stockdale Highway and turning SOUTH onto Don Hart Drive West.

Attendees should bring a brown bag lunch. There are also soda machines and vending machines near the Music Building.

A Fender Blues Deluxe Ampliļ¬er (1x12) will be available for the Master Class or the recital.
