Jim Scully
has
been an active participant in the Bakersfield music scene for nearly
two decades as a guitarist,
composer,
sound engineer and educator. He holds an MFA in Music with an
emphasis in jazz composition from the
University of California, Irvine
(UCI) and a BA in Music from
California
State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), where he is now a full-time
lecturer.
His primary academic responsibilities at CSUB include
teaching and developing
courses in jazz
studies, music theory and music technology. Additionally, he
serves as producer-director of the popular
Jazz Coffeehouse
concerts, assistant producer-director of the Legends of Jazz Series,
and director of the CSUB Computer MusicLab, a state-of-the-art
10-station audio/MIDI lab.
