    Welcome to ED SE 400! You can start the course here. When you see links (underlined in blue), you can click on them to visit other web pages. The ED SE 400 Syllabus describes all the essential details about the class. There is a link bar on the left side of the site, just click on the desired link

The class has three main parts:

1.  The first is CTAP8 Level I certification. If you are already certified, send me a copy of your certificate and you don't have to do the entire eFolio. You do need to learn how to create a portfolio file structure and lesson plan template in your LiveText account because you need these skills in subsequent program classes.

2. The second part of the class is observing 30 hours in a local school. You need to submit a Request for Placement Form to the placement coordinator as soon as possible, preferably before the first class. If you have 45 hours appropriate experience in secondary schools, you can submit a Waiver Request Form to me, but you still have to be placed in a school for future course work.

3. The third part of the class is information about secondary education which is given in weekly class lectures and other in-class assignments.

The CTAP I Resources link on the left contains instructions on completing the course in LiveText (LT).

Purchase a LT Subscription here (Buy Online). Many Secondary Education Program assignments, including the CTAP8 portfolio, are done using LT tools.

LT has trouble with some browsers, especially Mac's Safari. I recommend downloading Firefox and using it for LT assignments.

There is a video lectures DVD available for student checkout in the library,  It helps to view these videos in 4-5 minute segments, taking notes on items of interest.

Many assignments are done in 1, 2, 3 step directions. It may help simplify the process by printing out each assignment so you can follow the directions as you complete the assignment. It is easy to get confused in LT; working with team mates and sharing how assignments are done really helps.

You will get weekly Discussion Board Assignments (DBAs), done in WebCT. Your DBAs grade will be based on your response to prompts and replies to other responses in a timely fashion for grading rubric and due dates information; please, see the class schedule.

Do everything possible to complete each week's assignments on time. If you get behind, it is very difficult to catch up.
