New projects this year will focus on project-based learning with web page creation. Students will develop different web based projects.  These web based projects will have two overall goals (1)  to have students develop computer skills and subject knowledge to create a web based project and (2 the most appropriate of these web based projects will be refined and used as teaching aids in other classes. Expectations are for a possible UOP treating this methodology and technology and possible presentations at a professional meetings. At this time we have three proposals for specific project-based learning:
Proposal from Mrs. Barrios:
Objective:  Students will create a web-based project focusing on Australia and islands of the world. First students will review (they learned basics last year) basic browsing skills.  They will then create a personal web page.  Research will then begin on their individual projects.  Students will research these web sources as well as other resources, compile information, view and edit pictures and other graphics, and  compose reports, poetry and art work illustrating their findings. A web page of their project linked to the student's home page will be created that will contain links to sources on  Australia and islands of the world, pictures taken by students, digital videos, PowerPoint presentations and illustrations created in paint and draw programs   As the project develops students will learn how to use scanners, digital cameras, digital video and incorporate these elements of technology into their web-based projects.

Proposal from Mrs. Karen Girardi:
