First Commercial Computers are developed
IBM--not the best or fastest but has the market with typewriters in offices and an 'imbeded' sales force--results in first computer monoply case later

Me: I 'accidently' take a statistics class members class with the instructor who will install the first computer, an IBM 650 with drum memory and tubes, at UGA.  He offers an independent studies class to help install the computer and play by learning machine language, assembly language, early Fortran and some COBOL.

Result:
Using my computer skills I get an A for writing a point biserial program for a Sociology instructor, offered a research assistant position in Sociology graduate programs at UGA. I take it and become a research assistant/programmer.
