First computers were being developed mostly by research
Universities (ABC).
Calculating punch (wired programing
'pre-computer') was used to perform many "computer operations". A
major computer use at this time was in calculacting trajectories for
military "big guns" and
mathmatical computations for war projects such as the atom bomb,
rockets
and jet planes.Social Negatives--Is increasing the ability to wage war really a positive? Effect on me--Not much direct, I'm a kid, but we did win the war (Germany had similar computer technology developments hard to say who it helped the most) Technology: POTS, Slide rules, typewriters, mechanical calculators, 78 RPM records (I have one). Unit Record Devices: Card punchers, Wired calculating punches, sorter counters, accounting /tabulating machines, |
