Focus Questions for Group Discussion of Articles

1. Outline the major thesis/argument of the article. Include in your description the key features of the group/case study being discussed.

2. Briefly describe the key features of the conceptual framework and methodology employed within this study. More specifically, based on the information provided, how would you describe the relationship between the researcher and researched? Are there any assumptions/biases that you discern that impact your evaluation of this article? If so, what are they and how do they impact your evaluation? In what ways does a feminist perspective inform the description provided?

3. How does this study help us better understand the variable status and role of women, the nature of gender relations? How would you assess the relevance of key points made in this article to other materials being discussed in class?

4. What new understandings and/or insights does this article provide? (If applicable, describe the pros and cons of the argument being made).
