As a student teacher, you need to have a central place for your plans
and reflections for each class you teach. This notebook will serve the function
of keeping you organized; further, your field supervisor will be able to assess
events that have transpired since the last visitation. As a last function, it
will serve as a record of your experience throughout the year, and, therefore,
be a significant force for metacognition regarding your growth as a teacher.
Last of all, it will serve as a repository of plans and unit work to draw on in
your future instructional work. YOU NEED A COMPLETE NOTEBOOK FOR EACH DIFFERENT
SUBJECT OR CLASS LEVEL YOU TEACH.
The class notebook should be organized at the outset of your teaching
experience, and it should contain at least the following elements:
A
copy of the class roster
A
copy of the official role (grade sheet)
A
seating chart for the class
A
planning section containing
A calendar
graphic organizer for the current unit of work (initialed by the master
teacher)
Dated daily lesson plans for the indicated work to be covered (These should be submitted and initialed several days in advance of implementation)
A journal section containing short reflections on problems and experiences and reflections about them. (These should be entered as a “log” with dates in sequence.)
In
addition to these items, consult with your field supervisor for any other
elements to be included.
THIS NOTEBOOK SHOULD BE UP TO DATE AND AVAILABLE TO THE FIELD SUPERVISOR AT ANY TIME.

PORTFOLIOS
In keeping with the current educational philosophy of authentic
assessment, each candidate for the Single Subject Clad Emphasis Teaching
Credential must, upon completion of EDSE 499 or EDSE 493, submit for review and approval by
the CSUB Secondary Review Committee a portfolio of records and work as a
candidate for credentialing. This portfolio will be of inestimable value in the
candidate’s search placement in a position and should be designed with the same
care that would be given to an effective resume.
Please check the Student Teacher's Handbook for the specifics of the Portfolio. http://www.csub.edu/SoE/Teacher_Education/secondary_education/Secondary_Handbook_3.07.pdf
Instructions for submission: Go to your Livetext page ; go to the toolbar near the top and click on Submit for Review. A window will drop down. Type in: edse_admin Click : Submit
Do not submit this to an individual supervisor. After a department member has made an evaluation, it will be marked as Completed.

ATTENDANCE
Students are required to attend
all seminars. If you are unavoidably required to be absent from one of your
regularly scheduled seminars, you must make arrangements in advance to visit
another supervisor's session. If an emergency occurs, notify your own
supervisor as quickly as possible. Please remember that this arrangement is a
special accommodation and should not be construed to be habitually permitted.
