Statistics is a collection of procedures and principles for gaining information in order to make decisions when faced with uncertainty. The ability to analyze and explain available information is becoming increasingly important to employers.

A minor in applied statistics equips you with skills that complement fields such as Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, and the Natural and Social Sciences. The minor in applied statistics focuses on applications of statistics. The minor requires 20 quarter units chosen from MATH 140, 338, 339, 340, 415, and 440. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a statistics faculty member as soon as they decide to minor in applied statistics.
