Chuck Tate is a social/personality psychologist who studies (a) the perception of social categories and (b) prediction. Specifically, Dr. Tate examines individual differences in how people define social categories (e.g., ‘race,’ gender, sexual orientation) and the implications these definitions have for prejudice, self-concepts, and other aspects of person-perception. Dr. Tate also studies the processes underpinning and supporting predictions of future events in social and non-social domains.
Dr. Tate received a B.S. in psychology (summa cum laude with honors in psychology) from Loyola University, Chicago in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2006.
Dr. Tate teaches and conducts research at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, CA.
