Chuck Tate, Ph.D.

Dr. Tate has moved to San Francisco State University as an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of the Social Psychology Master’s Program

 

Chuck Tate is a social/personality psychologist who studies (a) the perception of social categories and (b) prediction. Specifically, Dr. Tate examines individual differences in how people define social categories (e.g., ‘race,’ gender, sexual orientation) and the implications these definitions have for prejudice, self-concepts, and other aspects of person-perception. He also studies the processes underpinning and supporting predictions of future events in social and non-social domains.

 

Dr. Tate received his B.S. in psychology (summa cum laude with honors in psychology) from Loyola University, Chicago in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2006.

 

Dr. Tate teaches and conducts research at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, CA.
