The annual meeting lion

CSANA sponsors a three-day conference each spring. Venues have included the University of Chicago, UCLA, Harvard University, the Universtiy of California at Berkeley, St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, the University of Washington, the University of Ottawa, the University of Georgia, the City University of New York, Virginia Polytechnic University, the University of Notre Dame, McGill University, the University of Toronto, the University of Cincinnati, and Colgate University.

The annual meeting affords CSANA members–university faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars alike–the opportunity to present papers on any topic in the field of Celtic Studies to an interested audience of Celticists; here we can refine ideas, enhance research, and make meaningful connections. Every effort is made to avoid concurrent sessions, so that all participants in the conference can hear every paper.

In addition to the papers submitted by members, CSANA meetings often feature invited lectures by distinguished Celtic scholars from North America and abroad. These lectures give CSANA members the opportunity to meet and discuss their work with world-renowned Celticists.

Another feature of the annual meeting is the seminar on a text selected at the previous year's conference. This is an informal discussion by all conference participants, and its aim is to enhance each reader's understanding of the text and to share ideas for presenting it in the classroom.

Finally, the meeting is a rare and delightful chance for Celticists from all over North America and the world to mingle and chat informally about our work. Most of us find that conference coffee hours, receptions, and dinners are among the most valuable experiences of the meeting.
