Select a topic.

The growth of the U.S. fast food industry has created an obesity epidemic.

Develop a search statement, using Boolean connectors, synonyms, and truncation

(fast food) and (obes* or overweight)

Select a database that contains information about your topic.

In this case, we will use a general database like Ebsco Academic Search Elite

Perform the search.  Now limit it to peer-reviewed journals and search subjects only.

Look at the full citation for the article "Debate on fast food in society."  Is there a synonym for fast food in any of the subject terms?  Add this to your search.

Find the article "The Effect of Demographic, Economic, and Nutrition Factors on the Frequency of Food Away from Home."
