Explorations in Psychology, Psyc 100. This introductory course will serve as an overview of the numerous topics in psychology. The emphasis will be on forming an understanding of psychology as a behavioral science.
Social Psychology, Psyc 312. As John Donne said, "No man is an island." No woman is an island, either. We live our lives influencing and being influenced by others. The primary goal of this course is to introduce students to some of the many ways in which we are influenced by being a human among other humans.
Social Psychology Lab, Psyc 312L. The purpose of this course is to learn about the research methodology used in the field of Social Psychology. More specifically, we will be discussing how social psychologists measure what we think we are measuring.
Interpersonal and Group Processes, Psyc 291. Students in this course learn important information about interpersonal communication and gain experience leading discussion groups.
Ethics and Practice of Teaching and Research. This is a graduate level class designed to support students in their research and teaching practice.
Graduate Seminar in Social Psychology, Psyc 504. In this course, students will examine, in depth, core concepts in social psychology, including social cognition, persuasion and obedience, aggression, attraction, prejudice, and the self. The focus of this course will be relating classic social psychological studies with the most current developments, and considering future directions.
Social Cognition. Social cognition is a subfield of psychology that intersects social and cognitive psychology. In this seminar course, topics of interest include the mental processes underlying social perception, social judgment, and social influence.
Explorations in Psychology. The goal is to introduce students the exciting field of psychology via lectures, in-class exercises and experiments, and writing assignments.
Psychology of Sexual Orientation. This course addresses many issues relevant to sexuality and sexual orientation, such as historical and cultural views of sexuality, stereotypes and discrimination, relationships, and mental and physical health.
Just a Minute Games. In this class students will have the opportunity to learn different, mostly non-competitive games that are appropriate for small and large groups of children (and adults). Great for anyone who expects to be spending time with children, e.g. parents, teachers, scout leaders.
Seminar in Psychological Research. The goal of this course is to introduce students to psychological research in a comfortable, non-threatening environment.
Abnormal Psychology. Through a variety of
learning opportunities, students learn the types, causes, and treatments of
