The Capacity & Preparatory Review (CPR) is designed so that the Senior College Commission of WASC can determine whether an institution of higher education, such as CSUB, fulfills the Core Commitment of Institutional Capacity:

The Core Commitment to Institutional Capacity enables CSUB to consider resource issues from a holistic perspective and to consider capacity as an institutional attribute beyond minimum compliance and a review of assets. Through the "lens" of institutional capacity, CSUB is enabled to re-examine what it is in terms of its ability to fulfill its aspirations and to integrate and synthesize findings and recommendations for continual improvement gained through its self-review.
CSUB intends to use the CPR as a means to formalize ongoing efforts to move the University towards the institutionalization of ongoing systematic assessment of student learning, that is embodied in the "Marks of a CSUB Student," across all units of the University. Additionally, CSUB will review and reaffirm the critical performance indicators of success for each of the strategic goals of the University Strategic Plan (USP).
