Your Student Life

CSUB offers a varied and interesting student life. Students find it easy to get involved in student government, organizations, sororities, fraternities and other extracurricular activities.

The Student Union is a setting for many activities, providing meeting rooms and recreation areas, a pub, lounge and a credit union with ATM.

Students have voted to build a new $24 million state-of-the-art recreation center projected to open in 2008. The 60,000-square-foot facility will include a suspended track, fitness area with equipment, and possibly a rock-climbing wall.

Mexica Tiahui

About 85 student organizations and clubs are on campus, reflecting a wide range of student interests, including Mexica Tiahui Ballet Folklorico, Asian Cultural Exchange, African American Student Union, College Republicans, and Judo Club, among many others. Greek life is also important to the college campus. CSUB has 11 fraternities and sororities including Kappa Alpha and Gamma Phi Beta.

Students are also encouraged to get involved in the community. Members of student organizations donate their time and effort to many worthwhile community projects, such as feeding the homeless, supporting the Kidney and Cancer Foundation, and volunteering at the Jamison Center, a home for abused and battered children.

CSUB is rich in the diversity of its students. Latino, African American, Filipino, Asian American, Native American, and Anglo and European students form a multicultural community in which all students feel welcome.
