Teaching Effectiveness Workshop
Presenter: Dr. Bruce D. Friedman,
The educational environment has changed. This workshop, based on the book, How to Teach Effectively: a brief guide (2008) Lyceum Books, Inc., will:
- Provide an overview of adult learning principles
- Identify three learning domains and how to integrate them into the classroom
- Provide an understanding of four learning styles and strategies on how to address students with them
- Introduce ten active learning strategies to move from passive to active learning
- Demonstrate techniques on using PowerPoint as a tool to enhance learning rather than becoming a slave to PowerPoint and technology

- Demonstration of how to design a hybrid course.
- Lists of pedagogies and uses with a discussion/demonstration.
- Examples of integrating podcasts, video, and other technologies
- Help on designing or thinking through the possible benefits for you and your students of a hybrid course.

- Find out what elements are needed to ensure a quality service-learning program.
- Focus on how to incorporate service-learning into the three
criteria of the Retention, Promotion and Tenure process: scholarship, teaching and service.
