This AIM provides instructors with resources to teach students about Boolean logic and how to use Boolean terminology to conduct literature searches. The main portion of the presentation is a video that offers an explanation of Boolean search terms (AND, OR and NOT), a class exercise to help students better understand the terminology, a search strategy for students to employ in their own assignments, two examples using Boolean logic in literature searches, and suggestions for evaluating whether students conducted their own searches effectively. The video is followed by a document containing a sequence of questions to evaluate whether students understand Boolean terminology. The images used in the video are included in a separate PowerPoint file.
