The Tile V program is one specifically designed to meet the
needs of Hispanics, minorities, and other low income students by offering
tutoring support, computer competency training, workshops, and career
counseling. Our objective will be developed through the use of four
activities.
Activity 1: One Stop Academic Success & Integrated Services (O.A.S.I.S.) Center- The OASIS center will offer students tutoring assistance, academic advisement, individualized assessment, career development, faculty mentoring and technology. |
Activity 2: Enhancing Faculty Development through Diversity Training- The OASIS center will collaborate with the CSUB teaching and learning center to provide students with mentors and advisors in their discipline of study in order to directly address any questions or problems the student might have. |
Activity 3: Expanding Multicultural Library Resources &
Internships- The CSUB Walter Stiern library collection will
be strengthened to include resources with Hispanic, ethnic minority,
and other multicultural perspectives; library internships will
be developed for eligible students with the objective of addressing
the shortage of underrepresented groups in the field of library and science. |
Activity 4: Gaining technology and informational resource competency- Title V will provide its students access to the newest technology through the use of computer notebooks that utilize the latest in wireless internet connection (hotspot) that the facility is equipped with. Title V will also provide classes in the use of this technology in an overall attempt to bridge the "digital divide" among Hispanics and other low income minority students. |
