Program Description

The School of Natural Science & Mathematics and the School of Education at California State University Bakersfield offer a joint program in science and mathematics funded by Chevron Corp. This program is designed to rejuvenate middle and high school science teachers as well as intends to increase interest of high school students in careers in sciences & mathematics by offering hands-on research experiences for teacher-student teams in biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, and physics.


The Summer 2008 research projects will take place between July 14 and August 7, 2008.

All positions in the 2008 REVS-UP Program are filled.

Interested middle and high school teachers need to submit the following materials:
  • Application
  • Rank list of projects
  • Letter of recommendation from their department chair, principal, or college instructor.
  • Personal statement describing their interest
Interested high school students need to submit the following materials:
  • Application
  • Rank list of projects
  • Letter of recommendation from a high school science teacher or councilor
  • Current High School transcripts.
  • Personal statement describing their interest
