Physical Education and Kinesiology (PEAK)
CSU Bakersfield offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Physical Education and Kinesiology (PEAK). Students can choose a concentration in Physical Education (one of the requirements to earn a State of California Single Subject Credential in Physical Education) or in Exercise Science.
The PEAK department also offers a series of Theory of Coaching courses, a minor in Physical Education and Kinesiology, and a variety of activity courses that provide recreation and fitness opportunities for all CSUB students.
The PEAK department at CSUB offers a friendly, supportive, and encouraging environment. Our experienced faculty members get to know their students personally and are dedicated to helping them succeed.
The PEAK department also offers a number of student internships in physical therapy, sport-specific training, rehabilitation, and long-term care, as well as other service learning opportunities that provide hands-on experience.
CSUB's Student Recreation Center (SRC), which opened in 2009, is a state-of-the-art facility that includes fitness machines, exercise rooms, gymnasium, indoor climbing tower, and a lighted outdoor sports field. The SRC is a great place for PEAK majors to gain work experience guiding their peers to improved health.
