Career Opportunities in Education

Career opportunities for elementary and secondary school teachers are expected to increase. It is expected that mathematics, science, bilingual, and technology educators will continue to be high priority positions. Teachers who are qualified to teach in more than one subject area will have an advantage in finding a teaching career. You may find these career opportunities and other useful information via the following links:

Edjoin.org

Center for Community Engagement and Career Education
The CECE is located on campus and assists students with career planning, employment opportunities and other services.

Careers Opportunities in Child Adolescent & Family Studies

Greater than average growth is projected through 2014 for childcare workers, with most jobs found in private preschools and childcare centers. Projected higher preschool enrollment, state supported programs instituted to improve early child education such as universal preschool, will contribute to the increased job opportunities for preschool teachers. There is a special demand for infant care and special needs intervention. Qualified persons who are interested in this type of work, should have little trouble finding a job. With more mothers returning to the workforce, the demand for preschools and child care centers has increased and will expand employment opportunities. New opportunities are developing with large corporations who operate their own day care centers. Many positions in this field are with non-profit organizations. The job market for teachers is dependent on the state of the budget for each demographic area.
