Graduate Degree Programs - Masters of Arts in Education Bilingual/Multicultural Education and Multicultural Education Degrees
The Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in bilingual/multicultural education is designed to meet the needs of classroom teachers and students who seek to improve their skills in order to attain a higher level of professionalism in bilingual/multicultural education. The advanced degree is articulated with other programs available in the School of Education. A basic teaching credential is highly recommended for awarding of the degree. Work toward the MA in Bilingual/multicultural Education may be closely articulated with the CLAD Certificate as designed by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Requirements for the MA Degree Concentration in
Bilingual/Multicultural Education
Prerequisite:
- A valid basic California Teaching Credential
Core: (7 quarter units)
- EDRS 680. Educational Statistics
- EDRS 681. Research Design and Analysis in Education
Concentration: (minimum of 33 quarter units from concentration area)
- EDBI 476. Introduction to Language Acquisition and Development (3)
- EDBI 503. Teaching Reading in Bilingual Cross-cultural Settings or
- EDBI 504. Bilingual/Cross-cultural Methods in the Language Arts
- EDBI 505. Cross-cultural Education
- EDBI 506. Bilingual/Cross-cultural Teaching Strategies
- EDBI 524. Advanced Methods and Techniques of Teaching English as a Second Language
- EDBI 564. Research and Evaluation in Bilingual/Cross-Cultural Education
- EDBI 635. Curriculum Materials Development in Bilingual/ Bicultural Education
