Professor Mejia has over 30 years of experience in the helping profession. He spent six years working in psychiatric inpatient facilities before moving into the field of psychiatric rehabilitation for 12 years. After receiving his Masters of Social Work from Sacramento State University, he worked in a family service agency before returning to Bakersfield in 1993 to work in school social work for 10 years. Professor Mejia maintains a private practice serving families and his areas of interest include mental health, school social work and child and family services.
