Professor Digges completed graduate studies at the University of Denver and the University of Oklahoma, where she earned the Master of Social Work degree in 1982. Professor Digges was admitted to the national Academy of Certified Social Workers in 1984 and became licensed by the state of Oklahoma for social work administration and clinical practice. In 1989, she became licensed to practice clinical social work by the state of California. The past 27 years have included work in diverse settings, including public and private child welfare; domestic and international adoptions; schools; health; mental health; and programs for the developmentally disabled. Professor Digges has directed a total of three medical social work departments, including one at a major health sciences center, and has been involved in social work, medical and nursing education programs since 1982. While interested in all areas of clinical practice, her current focus includes trauma; bereavement; poverty; and homelessness with a misson to promote social justice through education and empowerment.
