Names

 


The Student Center provides the ability to maintain your names. You can maintain your Primary and Preferred Names. Click the Names link in the Personal Information section to open the Names page, which will allow you to manage your information.

Adding Names

You have two names: Primary and Preferred. Your Primary Name is your legal name and is displayed on your legal documents, such as social security card, passport, or birth certificate. Your Preferred Name is the name you want people to call you. To add a name:

  1. Click the Add A New Name button
  2. Select a name type from the Name Type drop-down box.
  3. Leave English as the Format Using type
  4. If necessary, select a prefix from the Prefix drop-down box.
  5. Enter your city in the City field
  6. Enter your first name in the First Name field
  7. If appropriate, enter your middle name in the Middle Name field
  8. Enter your last name in the Last Name field
  9. If appropriate, select your suffix, such as Junior, Second, Third, etc. from the Suffix drop down box.
  10. If appropriate, select a future date for your name changes to take effect. Otherwise leave the default date.
  11. When you are satisfied with your entries, click the Save button.
  12. Click the OK button on the Save Confirmation page.

Editing Names

From the Change Name page, you can edit your Primary or Preferred name information, such as Prefix, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, or Suffix. To change your name information:

  1. Click the Names link in the Personal Information box.
  2. On the Names page, click the Edit button beside the name you would like to update.
  3. On the Change Name page, make any changes to the following fields, as needed:
    1. Prefix
    2. First Name
    3. Middle Name
    4. Last Name
    5. Suffix
    6. If desired, Date Changes Will Take Effect
  4. When you are satisfied with your changes, click the Save button to submit your changes to the system.
  5. If the Change Address page appears,
    1. Select the Address Type
    2. If desired, change the Date Changes will take effect field to your desired date by either typing in the date or selecting a date using the calendar icon.
  6. When you are satisfield with these changes, click the Save button to submit your changes.
  7. Click the OK button on the Save Confirmation page.
