Add a Class

 


The Add Classes page launches a wizard to facilitate adding classes. The wizard guides you through searching for classes, adding classes to your shopping cart, confirming your class selections, and viewing your results.

The wizard guides you through adding one or more classes using the 3 steps outlined below:

  1. Select classes to add
  2. Confirm classes
  3. View results

1. Select classes to add

To begin, verify the appropriate term is selected, such as Fall 2008. If you need to change the term,

  1. Click the 'Change Term' button.
  2. Select the desired term.
  3. Click ok.

You can add a class by entering the class number (CLASS NBR) and clicking Enter or by selecting Search for Class.

2. Confirm Classes

The Confirm Classes page displays the classes you selected to add. If the class status is Closed, you will need to select another class or remove the class from the list. Otherwise, you can click the Finish Enrolling button to process your request to add the classes listed. You can cancel the process without adding the classes by clicking the Cancel button.

3. View Results

The last step in the wizard allows you to view the results of your enrollment request. The Message area will display either a Success message, if the class was Added successfully, or an Error message, if the class was not Added.  The Status will show a picture of Success Indicator indicating the Add was successful or an picture of Errors Indicator indicating the Add was cancelled, due to errors.

Once you are satisfied with the results, you may click to the picture of my class schedule button button, to view your class schedule or navigate to other areas within myCSUB.

Click ‘My Class Schedule’ button to review, confirm, or print your schedule. Use the Quick Link - Viewing 'My Class Schedule' for more information.

Adding Related Class Sections

If the class has a Related Class Section, such as a lab or activity, select the appropriate lab or activity. Select Next to continue to add this course or Cancel to return to the selection page. Should a permission number be required to add the course, enter the permission number before clicking on Next.

Fixing errors

If your add status indicates “Errors Found”, click on “Errors Found”. The “Enrollment Request Message” page will appear and will tell you the reason for the error.

Enrollment Error Message What To Do
Hold on student's record. Add not processed. Check for any negative service indicators (or holds) that might prevent your registration. Information about how to clear the hold will display after you click on the hold item link.
Invalid Enrollment Appointment or Open Enrollment Period has not begun. 'View Your Enrollment Appointment' to check appointment date and time.
Requisites not met for class; not enrolled. Check the course catalog to find the requirements you must meet in order to take the class. If you think you have met a requisite, ask the class instructor or the department office for assistance.
Unit Limit Exceeded For Appointment Period. This message displays if you are trying to add a class that will exceed the 19-unit limit prior to the add/drop period.
Time Scheduling Conflict; Student Not Enrolled in Class. This message displays if you try to add a class to your schedule that conflicts with the time of another class on your schedule.
Student Not Enrolled; Class Full. This message displays if the maximum enrollment of the section is reached. Please enroll in a different section.
Multiple Enrollment Not Allowed for Course; Add Not Processed. This message displays when you try to add a class that doesn't allow enrollment in more than one section.
Student Already Enrolled in Class; Add Not Processed. This message displays when you try to add a class that is already on your schedule.
Student Not Enrolled in Class; Drop Not Processed. This message displays if you try to drop a class that is not on your schedule.
Student not Eligible to Enroll for Term. This message displays if you are not eligible to enroll. Please contact the Records Office at (661) 654-2147.
Class not Found for Enrollment. This message displays if you try to add a class that does not exist in the class schedule.
Maximum Term Student Unit Load Exceeded. This message displays if you are trying to add a class that will exceed the 20-unit term limit. Students who wish to enroll in more than 20 units must file a signed petition form with the Records Office.

Using the Class Nbr (CRN)

If you are adding a class by entering the Class Nbr, after you enter the Class Nbr you will see a summary of the course you have entered including an indicator to reflect whether the class is open or closed. Select Next to continue to add this course or Cancel to return to the selection page. Should a related class section be required to add the course, select the Related Class Section. (See Adding Related Class Sections)

Using Class Search Mode

To search for a class, you can choose Browse Catalog or Search for Classes from the drop down menu and click Search. If you are adding a class using the Class Search mode, select course subject, course number, and course career from the drop down menus and click Search.

Only open classes will be displayed unless you de-select the option prior to clicking on Search. Select the desired course from search results by clicking on the section number of the class.

You will see a Class Detail for the class. Click Select Class to continue adding the selected course or Return to Results to make a different selection. Select Next to continue to add this course or Cancel to return to the selection page. Should a related class section be required to add the course, select the Related Class Section. Adding more classes

Add additional classes using the same processes.  When you have completed all class selections, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3 to confirm classes.
