Class Roster

 


Class Rosters are available from the Faculty Center as soon as students begin enrolling in a class section. From the Class Roster, you can:

  • View detailed class information, such as number of enrollments, etc.
  • Download your roster to Excel
  • Email a single student, group of students, or your entire class
  • Produce a printer friendly version of your roster

View Detailed Class Information

The Class Roster Information displays course detail information, such as th Course ID, Course Name, Title, Class Number, Class Section, Component, Session, Term, and Career. The Class Number is the equivalent to the Banner CRN. The Enrollment Status drop down menu allows you to select whether to view all enrollment status, dropped students, or enrolled students. In addition, the enrollment summary shows the total number of students enrolled and the maximum number of enrollments.


Download Class Roster to Excel

You can use the Download icon to download your class roster to Excel or open in a web browser. To download your class roster:

  1. Click the Download icon
  2. On the File Download screen, select either Open or Save.
  3. If you selected Open, the class roster will open in a new browser window.
  4. If you selected Save, the Save To dialog box opens. To save the class roster: :
    1. Navigate to your desired save location, such as a network drive or My Documents
    2. Name the class roster, such as BA370-Summer08.xls.
    3. Click Save.

Email a Single Student

Each student with an email address is listed on your class roster as a hyperlink (underlined). You can email a single student by clicking the student's hyperlinked name. The email client, such as FirstClass or Outlook Express, associated with your web browser will open with your email address in the From field and their email address in the To field.

If you hold your cursor over the student's hyperlinked name, their email address will display in the status bar of your web browser, which is usually the lower left-hand corner of your screen. You can also get their email address by holding your cursor over their name.

To send an email to a single student:

  1. Click the student's name
  2. When the email client opens:
    1. Enter your subject information
    2. Enter the message text
    3. If desired, attach a file using the Attachment icon
    4. Click Send

Email a Group of Students

You can email a group of students from the class roster. Emails sent to a group of student are sent from the PeopleSoft system. As result, you can not send an attachment using this method. For a workaround, select the Email Attachments from the Quick Links on the left-hand side of this web page.

To email a group of students:

  1. Click the class roster icon for the desired class
  2. Click the Notify box next to each student you wish to email
  3. Click the Notify Selected Students button
  4. The PeopleSoft Email Notification page opens with your email address in the To and From fields and the selected students' email addresses in the BCC (blind carbon copy) box. To continue:
    1. Enter your subject information
    2. enter the message text
    3. Click the Send Notification button

Email Entire Class

You can email your class from the class roster. Emails sent to your class are sent from the PeopleSoft system. As result, you can not send an attachment using this method. For a workaround, select the Email Attachments from the Quick Links on the left-hand side of this web page.

To email your class:

  1. Click the class roster icon for the desired class
  2. Click the Notify Listed Students button
  3. The PeopleSoft Email Notification page opens with your email address in the To and From fields and the selected students' email addresses in the BCC (blind carbon copy) box. To continue:
    1. Enter your subject information
    2. enter the message text
    3. Click the Send Notification button

Print Class Roster

You can print your class roster by using the print button on your web browser. To print your class roster:

  1. Click the class roster icon
  2. Click the Printer Friendly Version button
  3. Click the Print button on your web browser tool bar or click File on the web browser menu and then click Print.
