Sculptor for Spring 2013: Ernest Daetwyler

The sculptor whom we have selected to work with our CSUB students to construct a sculpture for the campus in the Spring of 2013, is a Swiss Canadian Artist, Ernest Daetwyler. Presently based in Ontario Canada, he is a nature based, multidisciplinary artist, who often engages communities in collaborative projects. His international projects deal with issues of time, memory and culture.

Ernest Daetwyler studied at the Schule fuer Gestaltung, Bern, the Centro Europeo in Venice, Italy and received his master diploma from the Schule fuer Gestaltung, St. Gallen, Switzerland. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.

We look forward to working with Ernest on a project that will deal with the oil industry around the San Joauquin Valley. Students interested in working on this project should sign up for a unit of "Visiting Artist" for Spring of 2013.
